First Draft of the 'Macarena Project' video
Students’ C.R.E.A.T.E. is a nonprofit organization for high school students passionate about creative thinking. From music theory to theater, visual art to video editing, performing arts to production, our goal is to nurture their talent and provide creative learning opportunities to showcase the arts beyond a typical classroom. This includes professional artist collaborations, master classes, and community outreach. This dedicated group of students conceived, organized, and executed a town wide National Dance Day in Easton, CT called “The Macarena Project – Can You Dance To It?” Their premise was that you can dance the Macarena to any music genre, breaking boundaries of age, race, class, gender, and religion—and, just like Students’ C.R.E.A.T.E, it brought these groups together as artists and as people.
